Yemen remains the most untouched corner of Arabia. There has been conflict in Yemen for a long time and a civil war since the end of 2014. The government remains in exile and the Houthi rebels still control large areas. This is unfortunate for tourists wanting to discover the bustling souks, desert oases, traditional Arabian architecture and remote mountain caves which might house Aladdin or Sinbad or any characters of the Arabian Nights. While much of Yemen seems untouched by modern events, access to visitors is rather restricted.
