DAY 1 CHIANG RAI – CHIANG KHONG
You will be met at the airport then transferred to Chiang Khong for overnight. Without guide.
Overnight in CHIANG KHONG

DAY 2 – 3 CHIANG KHONG – GIBBON EXPERIENCE
Transfer from the hotel to the Thai – Lao border (without guide). Tourism has helped to solve the problem of poaching, logging, slash and burn that destroyed much primary forest. In this area The Gibbon Experience will provide Tree-Houses; network Zip Line through the canopy of Bokeo Nature Reserve to see the preserved forests. Your local guides will fly you over the forest to meet with the wildlife. The funds received are reinvested to protect the habitats of these animals. The Express is only a one hour transfer and the initial walk takes 1.5 hour. Through a series of very long ziplines you will fly from mountain to mountain to the southern heart of the Nam Kan National Park and to the biggest tree in Laos.
** During this tour do not expect to see gibbons as they are not common in this area. At the end of the tour you drive to Luang Namtha.

DAY 4 CHOOSE YOUR ADVENTURE

This one-day trek offers great hiking through beautiful farmland and forests as well as visiting a variety of different ethnic groups including the Sida who have only two villages in the whole of Laos! The tour has two options dependent on the participants, one easy and the other a more challenging option.
Approximately: 15 minutes transfer and 6 hours trekking

A very nice and easy 30 km cycling around Luang Namtha through stunning landscapes. Visit villages of Black Tai, Tai Leu and Lanten ethnic minorities and learn about handicraft manufacturing in the region. You will see silk production and a Lao alcohol distillery. In the cold season learn about Lanten paper making.

This tour is perfect for those of you who want a pleasant day paddling down the river taking in the sights. Along the way we stop off to explore some fascinating ethnic villages and take in the
beautiful views and wildlife which can be seen in this area.
Approximately: 20 minutes transfer/ 5 hours kayaking

Relaxing day in Luang Namtha, on that day a 1 hour massage is included as lunch.
(B, L,) TREK, CYCLING, KAYAKING -Overnight in LUANG NAMTHA

DAY 5 LUANG NAMTHA – OUDOMXAY
Stroll through Luang Namtha’s Morning Market and find a myriad of stands from local vendors selling foraged and farmed vegetables, fruits, meat, fresh seafood and many other exotic delicacies for a taste of local life before starting the journey to Oudomxay. Along the way stopping by the Ban Chang Village where the people have preserved their traditional culture and way of life. Learn about their ancient old techniques in cotton “dyeing” and bamboo paper making. Another visit will be made at the Village of Ba Pieng Nga famous for their many different handicrafts, where the friendly *Tai Dam and Tai Krao ethnic groups will greet us with warms smiles and open arms. Taking the national main road Route 13 to Oudomxay, we will stop to visit *Hmong and *Khamu ethnic groups.
(B,) Overnight in OUDOMXAY

DAY 6 OUDOMXAY – NONG KHIAW
An early morning start departing from the provincial capital of Oudomxay to the rustic little village of Nong Khiaw (3 hours drive), a picture perfect town sprung up along the river’s edge framed by towering limestones mountains. Upon arrival, climb aboard a traditional Lao Long boat for a scenic cruise via the Nam Ou River and enjoy a backdrop of untouched jungles, karst mountains and quaint fishing villages. Next, a stop over at Ban Sopcham and Muang Ngoi, villages famous for their handicraft products. Relax on the cruise back to Nong Khiaw to end the day.
TIP: Bring your swimwear and experience fishing with the locals using traditional fishing techniques.
(B,) RIVER CRUISE – Overnight in NONG KHIAW

DAY 7 NONG KHIAW – LUANG PRABANG
The goal today is to reach the timeless city of Luang Prabang, a UNESCO world heritage site. Departing from Nong Khiaw, we will visit the Thai Lue Village of Ban Na Nyang, known for their cotton weaving expertise. Continue driving south of Luang Prabang to reach Pak Ou Village where a relaxing boat cruise awaits. Sail along the Mekong River for a scenic trip to the sacred pilgrimage of Tam Ting Cave, a cave where a thousand Buddha statues are kept. Hop back on the boat and (depending on time) catch a glimpse of the breath-taking sunset as you arrive in Luang Prabang, marking the end of today’s trip.
(B,) CAVING & MEKONG CRUISE – Overnight in LUANG PRABANG

DAY 8 LUANG PRABANG CITY EXPLORER
Enjoy a leisurely tour around the told quarters of Luang Prabang starting with the Morning Market, full of fresh produce and exotic delicacies from farmers coming from small provincial villages to get a real taste of local life. Walking along the city main street, we will visit the National Museum once home to the Laotian Royal Family, it is famous as Luang Prabang’s main boulevard. Continue to the picturesque stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham, followed by a visit to Wat Xienthong, “The Temple of the Golden City” considered the finest in all of Laos. Get the heart-rate going with a small hike up to the Phou Si Mountain for a breathtaking view of the entire city.
(B,) CITY TOUR – Overnight in LUANG PRABANG

DAY 9 RICE IS LIFE – KUANG SI WATERFALLS
The day starts with a drive to the Living Lands Farm, a community of enterprise which maintains educational programs relating to organic farming. Be a rice farmer for the day and learn about
traditional rice farming techniques in this ‘Rice is Life’ half day interactive experience. In the afternoon, cool down for a refreshing swim or relax as you watch others jump into the water when we visit Kuang Si Waterfalls, a spectacular three-tiered waterfall leading to a 50m drop into aquamarine pools surrounded by lush tropical jungle. In here you can also visit the Bears Rescue Centre and see the Asiatic bears which were rescued from illegal poaching and trading.
TIP: (If time permits) Stop at Buffalo Dairy for a delicious homemade ice-cream made from water Buffalo milk!
